Nothing really happens and there were a lot of grammar and editing errors.

I am hoping it gets better.

I was so excited to find this book series; come on, you can't tell me that a supernatural world with the setting is based around a library and a reverse here with a vampire, a wolf, a god, a familia/warlock and a witch. I was sold. And I was disappointed.

I understand that a book, especially one like this, takes a lot of world-building, and the author has great potential, but overall it came across as dull. And how much can a person talk about werewolf porn at the start of a book without me wanting to rip my hair out? And don't get me started on the whole "oh, you want a library card? Okay, prick your finger - oh my gosh you have free access to everything? Well, do you want to move in with me?" I found it so cringy.

But me being me, I will continue the story, especially since I paid $25 AUD for each book, and I brought them all thinking it was going to be amazing series. I will not just leave them unread; I physically cannot do it.

So get excited for my thoughts on book two when I continue!

It's written in scenes and does not completely feel like one fluid story. Also it had this "instant acceptance" as a theme, and the main character just believes everything thrown at her. I prefer to read a bit more about the reasoning behind action. Just "feeling" oder "wanting" to do something is not enough for me to understand the character. Why don't they think about pros and cons in more detail?
Besides this, it was funny sometimes but not enough to make me read the other two books.

interesting

The story is different & the harem build is slow. The smut is minimal & not very thorough or graphic. The story is different & intriguing so I’ll keep reading but definitely needs more smut.

using uppity over and over

I overall enjoy the story line even if there are plot holes, however I’m still stumped how this got all the way through to publishing without anyone realizing “uppity” is a racist term, especially when it’s applied to the only Black described character in the book.

For anyone unaware: “uppity" was a term racist southerners used for black people who didn't know their place. (From the Atlantic)

Chaos is dangerous

But he wants Ripley as his wife the second he sees her. Love this twist to Dorian Gray and him being a trash nearly but not really immortal human.

So far enjoying getting yo know all of the guys getting access to the library. The werewolf porn jokes are non stop and hilarious. Since most of this is occurring in the library I wish we got a better description of what we're looking at. But it is fun seeing the characters dynamics shift as they get to know each other.

Chaos/Reyson - is trying so hard to get Ripley to admit there is more there than she wants to admit. All his flirting is hilarious. and you have to love his addiction to Oreos.

Felix - his snark matches Ripley and they've been together for so long. She just can't fathom him not sleeping in her bed. oh and what Chaos does to him... priceless.

Gabriel - Hes the one you want to take and hug him until he forgets how witch society treats him and his family because of his ancestors.

Balthazar- is not afraid to show just how hot he is for those in the library.Showing up looking for help and ending up lending some of his brand of help as well.

We see the least of Bram in this book. The hellhound is searching for his master. And while his master hasn't treated him as badly as other demons treat hellhounds, something is still not right with his disappearance.

Overall very little action except for the omg I raised a God. They mostly are on the search for information throughout this novel. Which isn't a bad thing, it sets up what may be to come and things don't start to unravel until the end. But maybe there's more.

This might be closer to 2.5 stars. I liked the idea behind the e plot. It was different and interesting. My problem was with the writing and characters. There were so many spots where the writing was confusing or jumped around. There were a few places it felt like the author forgot what was written a mere paragraph or sentence before. It’s never good when you have to read a section over several times bc it doesn’t make sense. Then there were the characters. I just didn’t feel like there was much character development. Chaos was fun and quirky, Felix complained ALL THE TIME, Balthazar was horny even though he had a curse on his dick so how he could always be horny yet not in pain from the curse I still haven’t figured out then there’s Gabrielle who liked to play the victim. Ridley was supposed to be this incredible witch who could do like anything but she was the ONLY librarian. So she’s never anywhere else. She’s there all the time from open to close: how you expect to solve problems and correct things when your stuck in the library morning and night I have no idea. The plot is interesting enough I might have read the second book but these characters just didn’t do it for me.
