I expected the book to go differently.  Can't believe I finished reading it.

Stanton is an asshole at best and a narcissist at worst.

I don't like the way Emma Chase writes women.

This book is not romance. Nothing about Stanton and Sophie's relationship is romantic.  It's basically a toxic relationship that will remain so.

DNF at 37%.
I really think the characters were great, and the writing was nice as well, except for
the fact that the guy expected the mother of his child to…. Wait forever? Both of them to never commit to someone? She didn’t want to move to the big city, he wanted to be a lawyer in DC, like… what was the expectation?
I don’t understand what was about and it was hard to read.
Reading the summary I did expect that part to go differently, and maybe one day I’ll finish this book. I did like the characters and the writing enough that I’ll give the second book a chance.

so... stanton is an asshole. but also a good guy. many people are being harsh with him in the reviews, but he’s just oblivious. And Sophia is awesome and doesn’t deserve any of the harsh comments here. Anyway - reading the reviews before reading this book was a bad idea and this book is actually real good
