This was a really fun book that we happened onto by chance. We are eagerly awaiting the next book in the series

Un mistero e Roma. Davvero un libro carino.

Four kids who end up staying at the same hotel room in Rome find out they have something in common as they get mixed up in a dangerous mystery, involving a murdered man with a suitcase, a strange box full of strange artifacts, and a killer who's now after them for that box. Oh, and then there's a little bit of magic. I liked the mystery but it just wasn't well written enough to thrill me. I found it confusing. I can see it trying to be a kids' version of The DaVinci Code, with all the references to conspiracies and historical figures, but maybe because of the translation, I just didn't get wild about it.

I really enjoyed the story, but the omniscient narrator style always bugs me a little. Will definitely read the rest of the series, though!

Lost in translation, give it a pass. This book had potential in its plot concept but was disappointing in its actuality.

It sucks when books you loved as a kid don’t hold up when you’re an adult. I still like this story for it’s nostalgic factor but there are some aspects that went over my head as a kid that I don’t agree with now.
