Love this duology and love Kazi and Jase, but let’s be real the first book was def better.

Jase and Kazi being kidnapped for half the book was not giving. Love Synove and Mason at the end tho and super cute ending with some nice closer (other authors TAKE NOTE).

Still recommend for some finality after DoT, though :)

The first book may have introduced us to this world but this book expands it, digging in deeper, and breaking it down. Is he a friend or a foe, a monarch or a dictator? Will they meet again or die trying? This book takes you in an emotional ride that leaves you wanting just one more chapter!

Honestly, I found the whole “blackface” as a main plot point- to be both racially insensitive & completely unnecessary. It completely ruined the book for me, and made me resent reading this book. 

Having finished this Duology I find I have more criticisms than compliments. For this particular genre & themes explored, it gets a solid C- at best. It’s not something I will be recommending.
