WHY would anyone voluntarily read a story about an author’s experiences after her mother died from cancer in 2009?
WHY??
Because Tyler Feder draws us into the inner circle of her family, before and after Rhonda’s death, so sweetly and genuinely and heart-scrapingly that you will finish the book changed.
You will.
You should read it.

Thank you, PRH and Dial, for the advanced readers copy.

There is no other way I would have preferred to know about someone's grief than through this memoir. The art style is wonderful, the story telling is great.

Thank you, Edmonton Public Library. Forever grateful for public libraries because not only are they portal to free books, they're also a portal to things that heal our collective grief.

As someone who lost their Mom young as well, this graphic novel captured everything I felt when I lost her. The awkwardness of mourning and grief, the seemingly inability to move on, the guilt of being happy, all of it. It felt like hanging out with someone who gets it.

5 stars//Library Book//This book just completely knocked my socks off. It was funny, heartwarming, and made me shed a couple of tears all in one sitting. I love the art style and the handwritten text, and even though I haven't lost my mom (thank goodness) I found myself relating to so much of this story, particularly because I lost my Pappy in the same year that the author lost her mom. Her reflections on how her grief has evolved and become a part of her really resonated with me in my own grief journey. I'm so thrilled I read this book and hope that this author creates more beautiful stories like this one.
