Took me a long time to get into, this one. It wasn't until I got halfway that I really flew through it. Before, I only read about 30-40 pages a day and that was it.

I went into it thinking Sam was going to be decoding the playlist songs. That didn't happen at all and it wasn't what the synopsis said so it was my fault for misunderstanding. And besides, the story that replaced it was fine.

I liked Sam. He was a great characters and I really conneted to him. I liked reading about his struggle to deal with Hayden's suicide.

The other characters didn't resonate with me as much but they were okay. I had throuble dealing with Astrid but I think that's because the romance in the book wasn't done well. It felt forced and out-of-place in this book. I understand why it was there but I still wish it hadn't been.

The really liked the ending. It was pretty ballsy and it gave us closure. Things got explained (though, the Archmage-ned explanation was a little vague) and it was I wanted from the book.

Overall, this was an interesting read and I recommend checking it out. The mysteries won't blow your mind but they won't be underwhelming either.

I found this book boring and predictable.

I think, like most people, I didn't find this book bad, but I also didn't find it very good. It centres around an important theme of suicide and has an interesting premise (by this, I mean the playlist), however I didn't find it very captivating or thought provoking.
I felt the playlist idea was interesting and could have been this great, intriguing thing (kind of like the cassette tapes in 13 Reasons Why), but I felt the author just let it slip by. If the songs were so important, why didn't we learn more about them or get a memory with them? I just felt like the playlist was meant to be such a big thing, but in the end, it felt like a separate story that was mentioned briefly every now and then.
Honestly, I wasn't even that captivated by the characters. I felt like quite a few of them needed more fleshing out and although some of them had interesting quirks or a side story, they still just weren't enough. Quite a few, I felt, were stock characters. I think the author could have expanded on a lot and fleshed out the novel more. I would consider it to be fairly short, so there was definitely room for things to be made more detailed or brought to life more.
Like I said, I did like the premise and the idea of it, so it gets three stars for that. However, considering the premise of it, it just wasn't impactful or too emotional. I think I was expecting more from it.
