I have not read many graphic novels but this has convinced me that I ought to. It's difficult to truly comprehend how horrifying the Holocaust was, but Art Spiegelman is able to capture the visceral horror of his father's experience, albeit often delivered with the nonchalance of someone who had no choice but to cope.
The 'present day' flashes of Art and Vladek's relationship are both charming and grounding, allowing readers to view his father in totality and not just in the context of his experience in Auschwitz.

I loved reading the story from Art via his dad’s perspective. I didn’t like his Dad’s character, and I am still uncertain why his mom did what she did, even though I can understand. The themes in Maus, the symbolism and the usage of pigs, mouses and cats are brilliant.

It is hard to believe that such a serious topic can be broached through the media of "cartoon", but I have to admit this is one of the most effective story telling I have come across. It is almost a memoir within a memoir, giving the graphic novel a complex nature. I found the whole story fascinating and thought-provoking. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, both young and old.

Sin tener una destacada calidad gráfica, logra una buena sociedad entre el texto, el dramatismo de lo narrado tanto en gráfica como en composición. Es dura, reflexiva, y de fácil lectura. Disfrutable
