My Colombian side is screaming, crying, and throwing up ;(
Maybe when I'm older I could give this a second chance but right now I think it's too slow and boring and contains a plot and characters I couldn't grasp/ didn't care about to continue going.
ALSO, what's with Marquez using the same fucking name for almost every character?! Come on, dude.

The whole thing exists under this dream-logic where nothing makes sense in a way that totally makes sense. I re-read this recently and I realized that it might be my favorite book ever.

My feelings about this book fluctuated a lot while reading it. Ultimately, I really appreciated its thematic richness, but also noticed that some of the things that make the book so distinctive also stopped me from loving it. The magical realist prose, in which both the quotidian and fantastical are described in similar tones, made it difficult for me to distinguish the most important pieces of information in the text. Sometimes, the sheer quantity of information feels relentless and alienating. The repetition that the author uses to emphasize the circularity of time also at times made the book feel monotonous and, sometimes for long stretches, even quite boring. So, I liked the book, but still ended up strangely disappointed.
