This was one Callahan Henry that I could just not get into. I gave up halfway in. I just could not relate to any of the main characters or the plot.

Driftwood summer by Patti Henry Callahan
Book starts out with Riley, raising her son above the bookstore. We learn of how the store got to be where it's located.
Alternating chapters from the 3 sisters as the story unfolds.
200th year anniversary week long party is planned, something for everybody. She learns when her mother falls down the stairs that she also has cancer in her bone that will be treated after the party.
Her sisters are to come also to visit, which they are not to be told about the cancer. She also has broken bones...
Maisey had run away years ago from Georgia to CA, working as an interior designer. The boss can do without her for a bit.
Adeline goes to college but enjoys the years partying her life away. She's coming home early to help with the bookstore as it's failing.
Ladies have long time sorrows and joys, some they are able to work through as others who visit the summer town return for the summer...
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

A great summer read. Three sisters come together again on the anniversary of the home/bookstore the eldest sister, Riley, lives in and works in. Maisy ran off to California thirteen years ago and the youngest sister, Adalee, is focused more on her boyfriend than her college studies.

There is a love interest, Mack Logan, that two of the sisters have history with, but who gets him in the end? That’s the joy of the story.

I like that all of the books mentioned throughout are listed in the back.

DNF. It was all to perfect. You can guess the ending from the beginning. Everyone will end up with their summer loves and the sisters will end up back home.

I loved that it took place in a book store and the suggestions of other books.

Less predictable than her last novel and much more enjoyable. This book was comfortable, if at all possible. You can fall right into the story, with the cozy bookstore and all the characters. The three sisters' lives are entwined easily, albeit a chaotic connection of jealousy and old resentment. Sometimes conversations seem forced or unnatural, but those conversations were necessary to the story. It was heartbreaking at moments, so happy in others. A good story of pulling family together to make dreams come true.
