I did not enjoy reading this at all. The book lacks clarity on what it wants to do and say - there are so many content warnings but little effort to explore the issues raised by them. Information is covered up to make the main character more mysterious, then revealed within the first 100 pages. And within that first 100 pages, pretty much all that happened in terms of investigation was that two of the main characters found out two girls are missing, not one, which is in the blurb of the book (which in fact makes clear that more than two girls are missing). It was SO. SLOW. I honestly could not tell you what most of the pages in this book were dedicated to, because it wasn't plot. The only reason this isn't one star is because
the bones of the mystery were good (i.e. a serial killer and victims close to the MC) - their execution, not so much
.
