A young boy, inspired by rich and famous people who are able to leave a mark on the world, remembers that he has his pen, which allows him to do so many different things.

Black and white illustrations accompany simple, yet inspiring, text.

Beautifully illustrated and definitely meant to inspire others to use their imagination to draw and the reader can easily connect that to writing as well. Not for the youngest audience but it would be great for an elementary school though if reading it in front of a class they may miss the details in the pictures.

This is one of those gorgeous "everybody" books, but those who love to draw will especially cherish it. Christopher Myers is mind-bogglingly artistic, and seeing what his pen can do made me wish I had a pen like his. I like that the last pages show more simplistic art, and make it not so much about the "talent" of the artist, but about the worlds inside each pen that are longing to be let out. Wonderful!

What worlds are waiting to come alive from your pen? A great mentor text for writing or for visual art.

Great illustrations. Christopher Myers opens his imagination and expresses fantastical dreams all by using one single pen.

Christopher Myers has created a book that celebrates creativity. He shows what a pen can do and what worlds can be imagined while using a pen. The worlds he imagines are sometimes surreal and sometimes very down to earth. I appreciated that he showed elaborate drawings, but also, on the final pages, shared art that was very much like young elementary school work.

This is one of those books that is wonderful for kids but amazing for adults. I love the art in the book so much. Christopher Myers has such amazing skill and the poetic nature of his book is quite powerful. While I knew from the start that this was going to be a short book, I wanted so many more pages so I can get lost in the art. This is a great book for any library, but a wonderful book for an art teacher. In times when we feel powerless, we forget that our pen, our words, and our art are truly the most powerful tools.

I didn't like the writing all that much in this one. The idea was a good one but the text didn't flow. It's message ended up feeling a bit lost. But the art. The art was fantastic. And came very close to carrying the whole book. So a near miss. 3.5 of 5.
