SUCH A GOOD BOOK!! Detmer makes reading about the immune system so enjoyable! Even though he tends to anthropomorphize our cells, it helps to understand everything. Makes you appreciate how complex and sophisticated our immune system really is. And, an added bonus is that he's hilarious!! 10/10 reccomend.

Das Buch enthält mehrere Fehler, außerdem wird alles sehr kindlich dargestellt, würde es also eher als Kinderbuch für unter 16-Jährige empfehlen.
Es wird zwar alles sehr malerisch dargestellt, dadurch wird das Buch aber auch unnötig lang, man hätte dasselbe Wissen verständlicher und wissenschaftlicher mit weniger als der halben Länge angeben können.
Kann selbst das Buch Unser Immunsystem: Wie es Bakterien, Viren & Co. abwehrt und wie wir es stärken von Hendrik Streeck empfehlen.

I loved the suspense of the fierce battle taking place inside us each and every day to keep us alive. The author did a very good job at explaining the complexity of our immune system in simple and engaging stories. I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to understand how our immune system works without getting lost in all the details.

Such a great book that approach immunology in an understandable way. Complicated concepts are explained in layman’s terms and are generalized yet still go deep enough to make the big picture clear while not making it messy. I listened to the audiobook, and would totally read the book (even again).
10/10 would recommend.

This is an absolutely excellent book to get a laypersons briefing into the human autoimmune system. The writing style in it is both accessible, and fun to read. The book works hard to pick wordings that will be easily digested by non-scientists, and it is littered with colorful descriptions and vivid explanations.
