This is one of my favourite reads of the series, perhaps because I knew so little about Katherine and Mary Grey despite how infamous Jane Grey is.
Jane’s narrative was my least favourite of the three - she wasn’t presented as likeable or even relatable. I found there were a lot of similarities with Margaret Beaufort, especially with her dedication to religion. Ultimately, she was very ignorant (although all of the sisters were!) and was used as a pawn in her family’s games and paid the price.
Katherine was the most interesting character of the three, and I really enjoyed her love story with Ned Seymour. She made some terrible choices, but she also paid the price for them although she did nothing to deserve it.
I found Mary’s character frustrating as she didn’t learn at all from the mistakes of Katherine in terms of her marriage. The latter part of her story felt weak, as a lot of it was a narration of what was happening between Elizabeth and Mary Queen of Scots. It has set the scene nicely for the next (and last?) book though!
PG’s writing is excellent as ever, and I truly feel that I am immersed in Tudor England.

To be honest I was very sceptical of this book since Three Sisters, Three Queens was such a disappointment. But it really surprised me!
Janes part was a bit annoying and I saw a lot of Margaret Tudor and Margaret Beaufort in her. But I really fell in love with Katherine! And also Mary was really enjoyable.
