These fun mysteries keep showing up at the library (I've had this one on reserve for a couple months!) and pushing the deeper stuff off my reading list :) I think I'll have to wait for summer to get to the really heavy stuff.

Finished this today. Another good one about Barbara Holloway!

I've read other books by Kate Wilhelm and liked them. I think that the problem with this one was that I figured out the ending in the first fourth of the book and became irritated when the main characters couldn't see what was going on. At best, a beach read.

I like Wilhelm's books. I'm a big fan of the legal thriller genre, and I like books in a series; they allow one to get to know the characters.

Not bad. Reminded me of the Perry Mason books. It
is the first one of this series that I have read and can
see that there is much character development that
has gone on since book #1 (this is #11). This plot
was okay although a bit hard to believe how everybody
'remembers' in detail what happened twenty some
years ago at a particular party. And then you might
also be able to guess whodunit before it is exposed
to us.
Mildly recommended.

I didn't see the ending coming, good mystery. I haven't read the Barbara Holloway books in a year or so, so it took me a bit too get back into it and remember all the characters. I don't love how Jill and Olga were portrayed. Spinning those characters differently with a stronger angle would have given it another star

Barbara is defending someone who is accused of two murders. This case appears to be the hardest of her career to defend, and she struggles to determine how to argue against the prosecuting attorney.

The book tends to slow down somewhat as Barbara prepares for the trial, but it has a satisfying end to the story.

Legal Fiction
2 murders and a third one attempted over the span of 22 years. Are they connected? It's up to Barbara Holloway to find out - and to keep her famous author client out of jail.

I figured out who did it before the end. :(
