A fast-paced fantasy/science fiction mixture, the author's second novel improves tremendously upon the already brilliant first. You can see the author has progressed massively in terms of weaving together a story. At all turns, you are left guessing as you follow the trail of large bread crumbs scattered throughout this book's pages. The characters are sometimes quite cliche, but sometimes that comes with the territory. Altogether it is a solid marriage of two genres within the speculative fiction umbrella. Worth a read, and definitely a firm favourite of mine.
