I am at peace with the fact that Dunn's mysteries aren't just that mysterious, which leave me free to enjoy the way she writes about early 1920's English aristocracy and it's idiosyncrasies. If you go into a Dalrymple novel expected to be stymied with clever twists or wowed with a twist ending, you'll be disappointed. But if you just enjoy Dunn's talent of giving a glimpse into the weirdness that is the English class system, these books are highly entertaining.

1926 England. An author of wild west stories is poisoned, and those in the big house are the only suspects, where Daisy was visiting at the time.

This is the first book I've read in this series but apparently it's the 20th so I'm guessing it's a popular series. I enjoyed the character of Daisy and the supporting cast seemed fresh, but that might be since they were all new to me. The strong female characters were nice to see in a book set in the 1920's. It did take over 100 pages for the murder to occur which seems to be a bit too long to wait.
