While I don't feel fully committed to the exact methodology of the Bullet Journal Method, I did appreciate the concepts found in this book.
For instance, one obstacle for me: Although I've come back to the idea that journaling could help with mental health, some days it just sounds like too much work to delve into my thoughts and feelings and wrestle with how to get them all into words. That's why I like the "daily log" described in this book. It's more of a jotting down of plans and then also highlights of what happened during the day, without feeling compelled to dig too deeply into them if you don't want to.

Underpinning all of this is my absolute favorite section of the book — the explanation of why hand-writing is so valuable. I love how it described hand-writing as a complex tactile movement that stimulates multiple regions of the brain... and that the very slowness of it gives it its edge, making us listen more closely and giving us time to form our own mental connections while we're distilling what we want to get on the page.

I think this well explains why I have never found taking notes via keyboard or screen to be cognitively satisfying. But give me a pen in my hand and let me form letters of my own design against the slight friction of paper, and my mind starts to radiate with connections and musings even while I listen to whatever it is I'm taking notes on.

It's just so much more fun.

Anyway, this review turned into a panegyric on hand-writing instead of Bullet Journaling, but I think that's ok. Because that's essentially the value I took from the book. Basically, just write more stuff down to help your mind process.

A warm, friendly writer, to be sure.

However, I got the book to learn how to use the BuJo, and not for the other stuff such as how to deal with imperfection and how to set goals. So, once I grasped the idea of how to construct the journal, the rest was a bit overwhelming and I ended up skimming it.

В принципе всё доступно и понятно, но как и многий нонфикшн, можно было бы сократить как минимум вдвое.
