This is one of my favorite books. Usually when I finish reading a book I'll read all the reviews to see what others thought----not with this one. I know exactly why I loved the book and I don't want that to be diluted or corrupted by others. I know what makes things funny. I really don't laugh "out loud" well, ever. I have plenty of internal chuckles, but this was the first book that had me busting out gut laughs.

I don't like books full of metaphor...as the poet Jack N once said "People who speak in metaphors can shampoo my crotch." But I appreciate the over the top comparisons and blatant symbolism here. Made it fun. Highly recommended.

I think I've figured out that satire just depresses me. Like, oh, the fact that we're a society of idiots is supposed to be funny? Yeah, I guess that is funny sometimes, but when it's as blatantly displayed as this, all I feel is sad.

"Being Bear"

The premise and idea is interesting, but for me, it gets old really fast. Plus, I have nothing against knowing that an author doesn't know what foreplay is for, but honestly how much this book revolves around sex was boring and not very imaginative

This was a strange read! Bonkers at times.

First off, thanks to Scott Bromley for recommending this one!

I felt that it started off well, and was quite interesting. But I have to say, it got quite silly about half way through.

I felt the writing and story actually quite similar to the writing of Kafka and Abe - notably the book [b:The Box Man|9999|The Box Man|Kōbō Abe|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320459929l/9999._SY75_.jpg|58327] comes to mind. Similar in theme and "transformation".
