a youth book of redemption and time travel. I liked the reading but by the ends was not so excited about the story.

So… they told us the plot of the book and now they’re showing us the plot of the book, but I already know what happened, and I have a pretty good guess at what’s going to happen/change, so I’m just kinda… bored, unfortunately. And I have about a million other books that I want to read and more being published as we speak, so I’m just gonna let this one go.

This was much different than de los Santos' other books. This is a story of time travel and life-saving. This book goes back and forth between the past and present while the main character tries to save her dad's life, while not messing up the future. I gave this book three stars because it was not what I was expecting out of a de los Santos book, but still was a decent story.

Not all I’d hoped it would be. Time travel options are interesting but this isn’t an easy read for a kid. Be clear about the years and help kids see the time travel aspect to correct a wrong to prevent another wrong.

A magical event takes a teen to see her ancestors and ultimately save the day - Sound familiar? I hadn't read much about this book before I read it, so the fantasy element came out of the blue for me. This book has an advantage over Coco (besides the fact that it came first) in that I think it could empower kids more as they consider how to be the change they wish to see in the world.
