Easy read, but a bit predictable

So nostalgic reading this - I loved Eva Ibbotson’s historical fiction romance novels when I was in middle school and it was so fun to read this again!

I loved this book. If you are looking for more depth than a sappy story with a fairytale woven in, then don't read it. But, a lover of unrealistic stories like myself, adored it. It was charming, and sweet, with a happy ending, and I'll be looking up more of this author's books.

I really liked this book. I didn't think I would get into it very much because the synopsis reads more like a cheesy romance novel, but just I fell in love with the characters in the book---even the despicable ones. I hate to admit it, but I got teary near the end! Love that Proom.

I'm not sure how historically accurate the whole novel is, but it makes me want to research and read more. That makes for a pretty good story in my mind.

I enjoyed rereading this story.

Content: clean - innuendo, a few swear words

It was entertaining but pretty much exactly what I expected from start to finish. But every now and then, I need a book like that.

This story is super-predictable, the villain is a little over the top, the main character is maybe too-good, but still fun to read.
