4 stars for the obvious thought that went into these essays and for the really good ones(blindness was my favorite). There were some that I breezed through because I didn't really care(war and moral philosophy, being 2 of them) but there were others that I enjoyed.
He definitely liked the old-fashioned "state the fact or conclusion then give twenty stories that prove said conclusion" style. It's not bad but can get repetitive.
