I used to enjoy Greek mythology - until I was forced to read these books.

The Myth-o-Mania series is a set of easy-reading myths told from Hades' point of view. The premise is that Zeus is a self-important, credit-stealing liar who twists the facts of stories around to make himself and his offspring look good. Hades sets the record straight in a resigned, older-brother sort of way, not a vindictive way.
These are fluffy stories to engage 3rd graders to perhaps 5th or 6th graders (if they are particularly interested in Greek mythology). The do illustrate the point that the same events can be interpreted very differently, and they also show how an influential person (in this case, Zeus), can spin a story to the point where everyone believes something that is not necessarily incontrovertibly true.

3.5 stars. It was alright. Very short, though. The "myth-o-maniac" and "droissing" words annoyed me. It was funny. I'll check out the next one.

Retelling of myths from Hades perspective. Fairly cute and entertaining. I would guess that this would be good for grades 3-5. Definitely for those who like Riordan.

Haven't picked up this series since primary school. Desperately want to again.

I read this aloud to a group of kids ages 6 to 12, and all of them enjoyed it. It's surprisingly humorous while still introducing kids to Greek mythology.
