I think everybody who knows me is aware that I love Neil Gaiman - it's not exsctly a secret. I enjoyed this book a lot because it was mainly about embracing yourself the way you are and accepting yourself and I liked that. The pacing was great in my opinion and I loved how stories were so important in this book. All characters felt real in a way and I have a soft spot for Daisy in particular.

Was a book I needed to read for a class and I struggled with the pacing

One of my all-time-favourites. Fat Charlie is a likable, extraordinary while being delightfully ordinary and a good protagonist. The other characters are interesting as well. Gaiman's language never fails to (or very rarely) entertain and inspire me. Definitely prefer this over American Gods (which I never could finish).
Also I gotta say I never realized most/some characters were supposed to be black until wayyyy later (and even then it took another review). I had never heard of Anansi before this (don't mind me, I'm Finnish and we grow up with different stories) so he was completely new to me, Spider was always kinda Mediterranean in my head and Daisy Asian but other than that, I didn't get it from the apparently very vague hints Gaiman gave.
