Okay, I have to say, I had a looooot of expectations diving into this because of the blurb.
And while there were individual poems that stayed with me. As a poetry collection on the whole, it didn't quite work for me. There were quite a few poems that I felt were a bit forced in terms of fitting with the theme.
But I loved and related with some of the images Jollin Tan evokes and paints with her words. I'm just going to hold on to that. It's always tricky with a collection of poems or stories, there may be some you love, and some that fall flat. However, I definitely think it's refreshing to see more art in all forms about bodies and body image and our struggles with them.
