Review from 2022 (4 stars): A solid, simple story still, but one that I enjoy far better now. I appreciate the slow pacing that does gently increase until the urgent final act, and the exposition felt more natural this time around. The airy, fairy tale quality is still present, but there is a level of grounding that comes from Mirasol. A simple woman with no ambitions and a great deal of imposter syndrome, she makes the story work with her gentle nature and determination.

Review from 2019 (3 stars): A solid, simple story, Chalice is a good read with a fairy tale quality to the story. The biggest complaint I have with the story really comes down to pacing and the sometimes weirdly placed sections of exposition. Exposition, which normally came in flashbacks, weren't always clearly sectioned off from the main story and I occasionally got lost. The pacing was slow and steady for most of the book, before suddenly hurrying forward in a couple places especially towards the end.
