Ugh. Geeeez. Very well written. Very moving. Fascinating and affecting story of a world I know so very little about. But harsh. Too harsh for me. But I stuck with it, which says something.
Only 4 stars, because it got very predictable in the middle, which made the second half feel almost like an epilogue in an uncomfortable way. But once over the hump, it came around again.
Hard to stomach that just reading it was almost too much and so many people around the world and throughout history have lived it. Or something equally harsh. I just wish so much that there was some way to make every life as fortunate as mine. And every fortunate heart as grateful.

قصة دامية!
لا أظن أن بوسعي كتابة مراجعة أو تعليق أو اضافة حتى، مهما اجتهدت، تضيف وتغير أو حتى تنقص من كمالية هذا العمل المتواضع الضخم في الآن ذاته.
الطريقة الرائعة التي كتب فيها المؤلف القصة، والتي اقتبس بعضًا منها من حياته الشخصية، بطريقة تكاد لا تصدق بأنها رواية خيالية! الكمال في اللغة، والأسلوب، وتناسق الأفكار المطروحة من غير أي تحيز في الرأي أو تحفظ في قصّها. الروعة في السلاسة البلاغية، والأسلوب التي استعملها الكاتب في طرح الرواية وقضيته، فوق أي تقييم ومراجعة مهما اجتهدت.
تكاد تصّدق بأن كل ما جاء في الرواية حقيقة لا محالة، رغم خيالية تسلسل الأحداث والوقائع في الرواية، إلا أن جزءًا كبيرًا منها حقيقة واقعة، في حيوات وفي عائلات أخرى.
