I liked this story very much. Quite different from the others because Darius did not want to make Tempest his at all costs. The other carpathians never considered another option. And also, there were more actions than in the other books, I didn't feel like skipping any part of the book for once.

They were masters of the darkness, searching through eternity for a mistress of the light...

I truly enjoyed this book! Yes the Hero (main male character) is over bearing and probably not a feminist but it was still good!
It was well written with a vibrant world & well developed characters.

{Book Blurb} "There is always a price to pay."

So Darius warned her when she accepted a position with his traveling troupe. And gazing mesmerized at the merciless slash of his mouth, the implacable resolve on his face, the soulless emptiness of his black eyes, Tempest was afraid to ask what it was.
Whoa ... this Life Mate business is serious!

Really enjoyed it. I think if you read the Carpathian books in sequence, one after the other, you notice the repetition in plot/character/and dialogue a lot more. Whereas if you have a few books in between each one, you can appreciate the story in each book a whole lot better. I didn’t really like Darius in the previous book, when Julian found Desari but I really like him in this one. He’s not as bad (egotistical, domineering, selfish) as some of the other Carpathians, probably because he wasn’t raised by them and he’s spent so long taking care of the others in the band. I also really think the whole Barack/Syndil storyline was great. It explained a lot. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Best, so far, in the Dark Series.
