I was very exciting about the concepts and the first few chapters were good. But then it suddenly focused a lot on sex and worshipping Ford. I wanted to push through but I don’t think the book focuses on genetic manipulation and their society in the way I had hoped. It definitely made some interesting points and perspectives, just wasn’t what I was looking for.

This book raises a lot of questions ... do we want a society like described in Brave New World? or rather are we building that kind of society? Is the concept of God still relevant? Is the concept of Human, Humanity still relevant? Who are we? What are we becoming?

Although Brave New World has a plot, the mechanisms and order of society were more-so the point of the book, and I wish we disregarded the plot completely and just explored the gears (haha no pun intended) behind the order. I would’ve been content if this book were just a tour of the factory instead that is Huxleys means of introducing the new world order. All the characters lacked depth, but perhaps this was done intentionally because of the absurd amount of genetic engineering and social conditioning that made no one a unique entity.

“Call it the fault of civilization. God isn’t compatible with machinery and scientific medicine and universal happiness”
The plays on familiar ideas to us was brilliant. Brave New World is a caricature of our society on drugs. Henry Ford being their “god” is hilarious and the cross being replaced with a T (for the ford model T) is fantastic. Perhaps someone more religious would find this offensive, but I don’t and I loved it.

I used this book to fall asleep because I was so bored.
I normally like dystopian novels, so I expected to appreciate this one as well. the setting and general world building should've also been of my liking....yet I completely hated this book.
