Just Spectacular! The artwork, the poetry - all of it. We need more Krista Franklin in the world but I am so thankful for her work that is already here.

💭 "History: I adore your glistening nostalgia / the way white is brushed on all marred walls, / your sprawling plantations, your masterful erasure; / brown faces blister in your sun."

Introductions repeat that this is to be read aloud. Indeed, pieces gathered into collages and the incantations with which they're paired initiated me.

Franklin masterfully stitches allusion for a future-nostalgic feel.

This is a recipe book for tomorrows transformed from yesterday's clippings.

We will "Dismantle it. Reprogram it. Dream Daylight. Manufacture Daylight" as magicians making anew by appreciating, then thoughtfully reconfiguring what came before.

The book calls and responds to so much Black art, cocooning readers in loving echoes
