This book has been on my wanted list from the moment I laid eyes on its cover. I fell in love with it. So when I saw a single copy on the shelf in a bookstore I rarely visit, I bought it immediately.

Needless to say, I had high expectations for this book. I've only wanted to own it for like, ever. Ha. Unfortunately, it fell a little short. The story took a little while to get on. The huge mystery of Rosie's past did not make me curious as much as it should have. In the meantime, I tried to immerse myself in the lovely New York City, as told by Rosie.

The cover and the title I have to say was a bit misleading. The cover is very winter-y, and though nothing in the blurb says the story takes place during Christmas, I just assumed. The title also says "fairytale", although I did not find much of a fairytale in the story.

The characters were very well-developed, although I did not seem to connect very well with any of them. I also enjoyed the relationship between Rosie and the men in her life, but I really couldn't pick up any romance among any of them, even in the end.

And Rosie's secret? A little overplayed. It didn't make any sense for her to keep it such a huge secret from some people she considered her best friends. Yes, it was a big deal, but her reasons for keeping it to herself were a little flimsy.

I felt this book was a little longer than necessary. There were a lot of fillers that we could have done without. But overall, it was a good read. Not the best chick lit out there in my opinion, but it comes pretty close.

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews Christmas may be over but I am in denial so this week I have 2 overdue festive reviews.

I picked this book up on Amazon quite a while ago because a) it was set in New York and b) I had heard good things about Miranda’s writing.

I found this book a little slow to begin with and I wasn’t sure about if for the first 20% but after that I couldn’t put it down. I was engrossed in this story I couldn’t put it down.

I loved Rosie and thought she was a great character. She had built so many walls that at first it was difficult to see who she was but as the book progressed and her walls came down she really was just this sweet girl who wanted to be loved but was so scared of getting hurt and humiliated again.

I loved the cast of side characters in this book and the way of Kwoalski’s. The shop is run like any local shop should be, with the thoughts of the community at the heart of it. Kwoalski’s is so much more than just a florist. It’s a place for love and friendship.

Rosie really does make New York seem like the place where dreams are made and this story did nothing to dispel my need to go and everything to raise my expectations for the day I finally visit it.

I enjoyed this sweet romance and look forward to picking up another of Miranda’s books in the future.

Fantastic

I loved this book! It made me laugh, cry and even given the characters a good taking to when they were being dense! It's the first book for a while that made me want to hide away until I finished it.

Really enjoyed it......had the predictable happy ending but I don't mind those!!
Were afew twists and turns in the story but I think most people would've guessed fairly early on what had happened to Rosie in the past, not that it made it any less enjoyable to read.Another good one that left me wanting to read more by this author.
