This was a cute, easy romance read set in the Highlands.

Received this book from LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program.

If you're looking for a typical formulaic romance novel, look no further. Woman in search of fling during a trip overseas falls for inexplicably rich man. The usual miscommunications about exes happen followed by make-up sex and a happily ever after. Typical. Which.. is fine.

The problem I had with this book is that the main character is supposedly "straight laced" but is uncharacteristically crass at times - more in the narrative/inner monologue than out loud to other characters. It was just.. jarring? And of course the "Scottish men are soooooooo exotic *swoon*" thing is a little hinky to me in general.

I am already very well acquainted with Kelsey's writing via her fanfiction, (her stories are the bomb.com guys, for real,) so it was no surprise that when I finally got my hands on her published novels that I instantly fell in love with her original stories as well.

The start of this series is fantastic. It gave me everything I needed and so much more.
Love her characters and their personalities. Especially Sorcha...I think she's going to end up being my favorite. And we're surrounded by buffed up roguish Scottish men with those swoon worthy accents?
Yes. Please.
And not only does Queen Kelsey know how to lay on the charm and romance... she knows how to write some of the steamiest smut around.

On to book two!

A lovely story that takes place in a picturesque village in the Scottish Highlands that has it all. A couple of Scottish hunks that wear kilts like they were born into them. Castles and ruins that reek of history and the people who lived and loved in them. A wedding with all the trimming, and two people so wrapped up in the other that the tension and attraction leaps off the pages. A love story rivaled only by the magnificent back drop of the Scottish Highlands and one that deserves every star I can give it.

I received a Netgalley copy of this story and have freely given it this well deserved review.

Just what I needed, clean, funny romance in Scotland.

I just didn't like this one for some reason. It is well written but it didn't draw me in.

**I received an arc copy for review.**
I am a sucker for a Scottish hero. Rose heads to Scotland to attend her best friends sudden wedding. She’s been very dedicated to her career and hasn’t had much fun in the last few years.
Lachlan is the cousin of the groom and a binaries Scottish laird. He tries to pull a prank on Rose but ends up embarrassing her instead. After drinking too much at the “hen” party, Rose takes home a member of the “stag” party and wakes up next to Lachlan the next morning.
There is a smidge if drama involving an ex but overall, it’s a solid romance set in Scotland.

I don’t know why but lately I’m a sucker for Scots. Seriously.

The blurb of this book kind of reminded me of Melonie Johnson’s Getting Hot with the Scot (the book is not out yet but you can read the review on my blog!).

When I was reading, some parts kind of reminded me of the movie Made of Honor starring Patrick Dempsey.

For example a quick wedding after meeting someone in Scotland (in this case, her best friend marrying a guy after a couple of months), the whole Scotland theme, Scotland habits (the bride going from bar to bar kissing strangers for money).

Of course, it wasn’t completely the same!

What I missed in this book was dual POV (it’s just her POV). I kept waiting but I didn’t get it. I feel like I connect more with characters if there’s dual POV, so this is a star less for me. Also, there were times where the focus was more on the friendship between Rose and her best friend Kathryn and Kat’s wedding than on the relationship between Lachlan and her.

For me, the first half of the book a little dragged, but the last was quite okay. I did miss the whole ”I love you” sayings that are usually in the book.

3.5 stars.

P.s.: I love the cover: the couple, the font, the castle, everything! Simple, but gorgeous!

ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
