I had read season 8 of Buffy and the Willow series. I thought why not read the Buffy Classics. It starts off with Spike and Drusilla. This is exciting to think about because this is when Spike was William the Bloody. It was good, not extraordinary like the show was.

Fun bit of nostalgia for Buffy fans, especially if you love Spike and Dru, but it's very much supplemental material. I don't think the storytelling holds up without at least some familiarity with the tv show and it's mythos. The art is passable. I was a bit disappointed because I believe I seen other work by the artist that had far more depth and detail. This seems to be very hurried/bare minimum. Which is probably part of whole feel of this being more like a "DVD extra" than its own thing.

Welcome to some stories from the Buffyverse!

If you don't personally know me, then you probably didn't know that I am kind of obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and everything involved there (including Angel). I have a claddagh ring of my own (also for my Irish heritage, but still) and I own the series on DVD.

Then I heard there were some comics?!

I lost it, because I heard it was a continuation from the series. I guess this isn't that continuation, because this first issue was all about Drusilla and Spike, which I wasn't not happy about.

I guess the "Buffy Classics" are more short stories here and there about certain things left open to the interpretation from the show.

This certain issue tells you about a repercussion from killing The Slayer from Beijing, China. They got themselves in a little bit of a pickle, but these two do love their chaos.

The art was pretty good. I was a little disappointed the vamp-face wasn't more obvious (because let's be honest, that face is disgusting and you know the difference from their human face to their vamp face). For a 35 page story, I would say it was pretty good. Could have been better, but I just loved diving back into this world.

Till next time,
