I had low expectations for this, it sat on my bookshelf for about a year before I picked it up. With that being said I will admit that I really did enjoy this book. I haven’t read a good gothic or gothic adjacent book in a while, while this isn’t fully gothic it had the echos of it. I loved the authors writing and I thought the mc was very likable. I did expect more horror but I suppose the spookiness factor was ok. The ending was satisfactory.

It's one wild ride of a story that had me totally invested in the beginning. But, here's the thing, it kind of went off the rails towards the end—like, seriously got weird. The turn of events is a bit strange (not in a good way), to say the least, and while it added a crazy surprise, it also left me scratching my head a bit.
