This book just didn't live up to the blurb for me. It was slow moving, and most of this story happens in the main characters heads. If they would have had an actual conversations about things from the start, it would have been a lot more of an enjoyable read. The reader is given backstory on Marcus, and you get a feel for why he has the issues he does. Abby on the other hand, isn't really explained. She has bad anxiety and, I don't have a problem with MC having issues, I have a problem with them refusing to address them. The fact that Abby did EVERYTHING possible to avoid conversations and confrontations made it impossible to understand how she would cope being a mom. Parenthood is one hard situation after another. It made this book too unbelievable to me. This was a first for me from this author, and while I didn't enjoy this one, I would give her another read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

Very slow book. It’s light-hearted and cute—but very predictable.

Best friends to roommates to let's have a baby together! It definitely was a good trope but it had a lot of introspection and internal dialogue. I think her having depression and dealing with that brought a new interesting aspect to the story.

And a Shout out to all my WoW friends! Gamer girls rule!!

I ADORE the best-friends-turned-lovers trope! Seriously, it's one of my favorites. And because it's one of my favorites, I tend to have a higher threshold for writing that's less than stellar, or a plot that's lacking, or characters who aren't the greatest.

But I really struggled this time. Abby annoyed the crap out of me. We were introduced to these two characters who each have their own issues. We were given plenty of backstory on why Marcus is the way he is. We were given almost none that would help us to understand Abby. I get that she's a character with incredibly low self-esteem and that's probably very hard to write. But she didn't hit the mark here. Abby came across as whiny, hysterical, and even incredibly dense at times.

I also didn't understand how two people could be THAT deep in denial about their attraction. It didn't make sense to me. I found the premise interesting enough to want to read this and I was curious enough to finish it but I didn't find it all that enjoyable.

I would skip this one.

This was my first book by this author so I really didn’t know what to expect but it is safe to say that it won’t be my last. I loved the story, friends to lovers romance is a favorite trope of mine and this was done so well. Abby and Marcus had such a wonderful connection and I loved how well they knew each other. The storyline was great and I loved that it showed a bit of what’s to come in the series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

This book was cute and I definitely really liked the characters. Best friends turned romance isn't always my favourite, but I'm almost always willing to give it a try. I loved their friendship and the storyline with Marcus and Luca's father. I didn't completely connect with the actual plot as much as I would've liked to - and everything felt a bit too...easily resolved, maybe? I will still continue with the series and this was a cute read that passed the time nicely and left me with a smile on my face.

This book was good, but I didn’t love it. The romance was sweet, but I couldn’t really connect to the characters. The ending was really good though.
