Fast paced, with many great moments. Told in the 2nd person, which I don’t recall encountering in any other novel - gives a very unique perspective.

You didn't really enjoy this book. You thought it was pretty gimmicky with its second-person point of view. You thought you might have enjoyed it more if you were living in the New York in the 1980's and a male. You may have glamorized it if you were somewhere in the age range of 18-21 years old. You found it a light enough read so it didn't make you feel like you wasted too much time. You probably wouldn't revisit it in the future.

Misogyny and racism abound!! I never felt sorry for the narrator. He sucked.

I really loved this book. It was funny. The observations about life and grief were really spot on, and the story really came together at the end, making it a surprisingly satisfying read.

The second person narrative worked well with this, and really made me feel a connection with the character. It is drink and drug fuelled chaos, but offers a real insight into life and death. I cried at the end.

great use of 2nd person, incredibly similar to less than zero otherwise (though this came first)
