I enjoyed this Sleeping Beauty spin off.

Content: clean- some violence

I enjoyed this story just as much as (maybe more than) Beauty and the Clockwork Beast. The characters were written and developed well. The retelling of Sleeping Beauty was creative and enjoyable. This is a book I plan to purchase for my personal library.

It's not secret I adore fairy tale retellings. I have a particularly soft spot for steampunk fairy tale retellings. This book got me through a couple of late night flights. I enjoyed the characters, and hope very much that Nigel Crowe will get his own novella or novel some day. He was a yummy one, maybe guilty of stealing scenes from Dr. Cooper and Captain Daniel.

I also really liked how the original fairy tale influenced the story, but didn't dictate the story. It was fun to see where/how the references appeared. Also appreciated how madam author approached the issue of consent--that wake up kiss can get problematic quickly. It was a relief that it wasn't a first kiss, also a relief that it was consensual. Also explained in a way that made sense with the original curse/fairy tale.

This one felt so different than the first. I enjoyed it, but in a different way.

I enjoyed this sequel to book 1! The world building only grew as we left the UK and experienced more magic. Isla was a great heroine and I have every plan to read the next two books in the series

Not as fun. So a romance. Skirted the line of “proper.” Cotton candy.

I loved the first book in this series, Beauty and the Clockwork Beast, so I was beyond excited to start Kiss of the Spindle. And I've gotta say, it was just as good as it's predecessor. There's just something so fun about combining a steampunk setting with a fairy tale retelling. I can't get enough of it.

Isla was a kick-butt heroine. Strong, independent, determined, courageous. She knew exactly what she wanted and stopped at nothing to get it. Daniel was a bit closed-off, so it was hard to get a feel for him in the beginning, but it wasn't long before he showed himself to be an infinitely likable guy with a heart of gold. They made such a great team and I really liked the fact that they started off as friends. There was no insta-love here which I was so grateful for. The romance slowly developed over the course of the book.

I always liked Sleeping Beauty so to see it retold in this way was a joy. I was fully and completely engrossed in it and didn't want it to end. I highly recommend it and am so ready for book three!
