I really liked it, its short but it really makes you think and the ending is left up to however you interpret it. I also feel like people are being way to critical over something that's only a little over 40 pages? It felt like a think piece with a bit of poetry in it. I personally think going back to the garden is going back to a version of heaven and that Leina and Yuliana both killed themselves in the end.

I can appreciate the writing to this story. If this was alluding to suicide, then I think I understood the story. If it wasn’t about that, I’m a bit lost. 😅
Assuming it was about suicide, I can feel the despair our main character was going through. She truly felt abandoned by her mother and felt this journey would bring her peace.

I have been enjoying these short story collections. This is my first experience of Tomi Champion-Adeyemi's work and based on this, I'll absolutely seek out more. I appreciated the writing, the atmosphere, and the mystery of this story; I feel like the author really created a sense of longing and uncertainty in very few pages. What *really* didn't work for me, though, was the "alternating prose and verse." I found the prose more poetic than the poetry, which just felt clunky and didn't really add anything.
