If you need a memoir to be laid out chronologically, then this book is not for you. Pate jumps around quite a bit throughout his life, following a theme rather than a linear timeline when recounting his journey. An emotional read.

i think i've come to accept a certain structure to trans memoir and also that i would resonate with it more because of Page and i's shared identities - but the book ended up challenging my expectations a lot. It's significantly focused on his life in showbusiness and how coming into his identity was affected by that - i didn't find this thematically that captivating personally, but I liked reading about coming of age in the public eye affected Page. his style was very descriptive, but i found the non-linear style even within each chapter a little too tangential and hard to follow.

Enjoyed hearing his story. It was a little hard to follow because the timeline switches back and forth. But a perfect pride month read!

"Pageboy" is a very beautiful, brave, unflinchingly honest, and well-written memoir. However, I found it difficult to follow at times due to the many temporal jumps. Despite this, the raw and heartfelt storytelling shines through, making it a compelling read.
