I thought I was completely done with the whole Arthur mythology - however I think that this took me back to the narratives that captured my interest originally... by taking away so many of the add ons and going back to older tales it felt more authentic to me.

An interesting look at the King Arthur legend through the eyes of four of the minor characters. It's essentially four short stories, but ones that work together to propel the myth's narrative forward. A good interpretation of Arthurian legends.

I think I could have done without Medraud's section. It ended so abruptly anyway, it seemed pointless.

My middle school Humanities class had a King Arthur unit a few years ago, and we each had to read two King Arthur books. This was one of the books I read. It was good, and I liked it, but it was so depressing... full of death and rape and all that wonderful stuff I don't really need to read about at age... what, 13? (I was warned, too. Oh well.)
Pros: it's fun to rant about.
Cons: it's a bit inappropriate... especially for middle school... what was it, 6th grade?
