I'm pretty sure I read the earlier edition or possibly one of his even earlier books. I first read about cordwood construction in [book:Shelter|381860]? This method has always been one of those funky DIY sort of things, this book does present some studies and findings, but your pretty much on your own for most of it. There is the author's school, some newsgroups and probably no contractors. Looking at the bibliography, this is your best bet on this form of building.
An interesting read on an obscure building technique. If you live in a fairly unregulated area with lots of cordwood you can't sell, it may be useful to you.
