While still not as good as the first book of Buxbaum's that I read, Tell Me Three Things, this is quite a lot better than the other book of hers that I've read, What To Say Next. This was kind of a nice mixture of some of the strengths from each of those books and I rather enjoyed most of it.
The only thing that was kind of missing for me was a real investment in Noah and Abbi's lives. In Tell Me Three Things, I was locked in by basically moment one. Here, I couldn't get behind their emotional drive. Maybe it's that detachment to 9/11 that Buxbaum spoke of, but I just didn't feel that loss, that sadness.
That said, I still enjoyed this quite a bit. It was just missing that extra little kick to make it something great, unfortunately.

ModernMrsDarcy.com Summer 2019 Reading List
YA is not my go-to genre but I do enjoy a YA book that has depth and believable characters. The two Julie Buxbaum books that I’ve read definitely had both. This post-9/11 story certainly touched my heart in a very special way. I witnessed 9/11 live on TV like so many millions of us did — it changed everyone who witnessed it on some permanent level. Great job on a devastating topic!

If you're looking for an emotional contemporary that touches on the aftermath of a teen who experienced loss during 9/11 and you aren't afraid of crying while reading, then check out my full review at Forever Young Adult.
