I cared literally 0% about anyone but Rose's mom. Maybe it's the age I am now but nothing the girls or teens did held my interest at all.

Further thoughts a week later: I think the reason nothing really jazzed me about this story was that I had no connect to the main character, no idea of who she was or what she thought, besides wanting her parents to stop fighting and slut shaming teens - things I can get behind as a way of developing a character, but it felt like they stopped there. What did Rose learn from that summer watching teens love and fight and get in big trouble? How did her relationship with her mother change when she learned more about her mother's situation (did it even change at all)? I understand a child being self-centered and reactive and naive, and that's not bad for a character to be, but it felt like she remained the same throughout and learned absolutely nothing. Not a moment of genuine reflection from Rose. Also the art was beautiful but the teens were ugly and gross

I don’t really know what I expected, but it was kind of sad. It had a lot to do with family and depression I think. There was no real support for the characters who were suffering which was the sad part. I don’t think I will ever read this again.
