What a ride!!

Kallik is an amazing character, even more amazing because she was brought to fruition by two separate but equally epic minds! Kallik has grown up in an orphanage and because of this she is now required to fight for a position in the fae community.

The book starts at the end of her 8 years of training where she is put through a three prong test to prove what “tier” she will enter the fae world as. Think of this a lot like the shadowspell academy trials but a lot more condensed.

Of course in the process of winning her place in the fae community underhill is completely destroyed. In a group of 20 fae it had to happen to HER, and now she is on the run trying to figure out what happened to underhill before it is placed squarely on her shoulders. This part of the book reminds me of Larkspur and everything against her.

To top it off, her childhood infatuation has come back to haunt her, literally, no matter where she runs he is right there throwing snark and demeaning her along the way. Eventually he learns the true about her, or at least Kallik thinks he does. In reality he’s hiding just how much he does know and there are things as a reader you will figure out before Kallik does!

Her very best friend in the world Hyacinth joins her in her quest to find the truth. She did not have to go to underhill to train so she is a very awkward companion to have on the roads but that just makes her even better! Her part at the end pulled at my heartstrings.

I am absolutely loving this meld of minds and cannot wait until the next book comes out.

I'm so obsessed with this series

Alli is half human and half fae. Forced to compete in the trials at Underhill to gain status among the fae, Alli comes out on top but at a price. She destroyed Underhill and now she needs to find a way to fix it before her life is taken. But Alli doesn't know if she can trust the people she meets on her journey. And when the boy she had always liked comes after her, Alli needs to decide if it's worth letting he in once again.

I can't wait to see how the story develops!

Loved this story it was truly enchanting. Alli has felt like the outcast most of her life but has stubbornly pushed back everyone's thought of her to prove them all wrong. All she has ever dreamed of is having a place to call home and indepence but once it is finally in her grasp any and everything that could go wrong does. Alli with no other options leaves the place she thought to come home on a mission to fix a world that is crumbling around her. Her passion for the truth has to learning many gripping secrets, some hiding for decades. All the while her childhood crush just can't seem to stay away. Lan, after 8 long years is still the ill-tempered alluring Unseelie that shattered her heart as a child. Lastly on the list of characters is Cinth the best friend extraordinar. This voluptuous spit fire brings all her own style to this trio. Absolutely taken with the way she can put people in place regardless of who they are or what they are capable of. Favorite quote of the book is in chapter 10 where she puts Lan in his place. Cinth- "What's good for her is having me around. Just try and separate us. Just try. You will see who she sides with. You may have a dick, but I can cook. Dicks go limp over time; good cooking is forever" I literally cried from laughing so hard. On a finally note the food description will leave you hungry. I mean really I need some of the recipes from this it sounds heavenly.

I will admit that there are part of this book that I don’t particularly enjoy - starting with the title. However, if you get over some of the details and lack of side character descriptions (all I know about her best friend is she’s a great cook, curvy, with a big chest and dump truck ass) and growth, I liked the overall story. I found the mystery compelling and the twists not as easily guessed as other books. If you’re looking for smut, this isn’t the book for you, but I actually really enjoyed it!
