Held my interest

This book held my interest from beginning to end. Good romance between Swede and Allie. I wasn't sure how I felt about Allie at first, but I grew to like her.

I also like that she was strong and independent. The back story regarding the fiance was also good. I wish it had been a little longer. I would definitely recommend this book.

Allie was a bit of a contradiction, the relationship between her and her fiance was bizarre and not believable. I liked her with the male lead.

This was such a great story!! I absolutely loved it! We get to see Allie in the first story (it's about her brother) and she is very stubborn and determined person. All of this dangerous things are happening around her and she doesn't know why. It seems to be connected to her fiance but she is in denial and wants to believe that they are just accidents, though she knows they are more. Swede is hired as her bodyguard by her fiance and she is not happy about it. She doesn't want someone following her around all the time but she doesn't get much choice when she goes to talk to her fiance and the barn gets blown up. Swede and Allie are drawn to each other as they interact together. Neither plans to act on it or really even acknowledge it at first because Allie is engaged to another man. Swede doesn't have a high opinion of him since he left his fiance a week before the wedding when it is obvious that she is in danger. People continually ask Allie if she is sure she wants to marry him and her stubbornness definitely affects her answer because she doesn't even stop to think about it...at least until her feelings for Swede start to become more undeniable to herself.
Allie and Swede are great characters and I loved getting to see the characters from the first one as well. All of the characters are very well written and complex. I loved how they interacted with each other and how the story flowed. It was very smooth and I had my suspicions on who the culprit was from the beginning but there is a twist here and there to keep you guessing and the motive wasn't one I had guessed from the beginning. The sex is fairly explicit and not frequent, because she is engaged to another man so they put it off because they don't want to cheat, that's not who they are. I loved the introduction to the other bodyguard members at the end and can't wait for their stories. I always love Elle James' books and am never disappointed.
This is the second book in the series but it is a stand alone story and you do not need to have read the first one to understand everything going on in this one. You do get to know the characters in this story in the first one so that's an added bonus if you have read it but it's not needed. I would recommend this read to people who are looking for a good, solid written romance story with some action mixed in.
