First of all, set in Michigan. Bit plus for me. Trans? Queer? Poly? Extra awesome. It drops you right into the world without infodumping, so it feels very immersive. My only critique would be that the main character was written a little too cautiously, like the author was afraid to give him any unlikeable traits, which sort of hurt the tension and conflict of the romance. I loved the concept of trans fairies being able to transition through magic, and that made <spoilers> me understand the motivation for the MC to go back to the fairy realm when he had an established and close friendship in the real world. Without that particular GMC, it would have just seemed like he abandoned an important relationship. </spoilers>

I'm sad I didn't connect with this book, it really was a me problem because it really wasn't bad or anything, I just found myself being annoyed at the pace of the book. I liked the plot but it mainly focused on romance which didn't connect with me. The plot twist was so good, I wanted more of that. Although I will still explore this author's other books.

i want to start this off by saying thank you SOO much to the author for letting me receive an arc of this book and i am sorry if this review makes no sense it is 1am.

i LOVEDDD this book. firstly, the characters ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’˜ bennett was such a good main character. i related to him heavily. the way the book described his struggles with dysphoria/being stuck in the mundane realm hit me really hard. i loved seeing him form his relationships with callum and jesse. callum was so caring and kind, i LOVE a โ€œgrumpyโ€ character in books. jesse was so bubbly and sweet. idk what else to say except i loved them!!!

the story with bennettโ€™s parents and what happened to his magic was really interesting and i had no idea where the author would take it. the writing was really well done and i was never confused about the magic or what was occurring which i heavily appreciated.

overall, i definitely recommend this book to anyone interested!!
