Kate Clayborn ‘s debut novel is a fun read full of interesting characters. From the start, one pulls for the couple to find their HEA.

Well written. Compelling depiction of the finding balance between ambition and listening to your heart.

This was a pretty solid, if somewhat rote, romance book for the first 220 pages or so.

And then? Then?? I saw it coming. I saw exactly how it would play out.

The most frustrating, infuriating third act breakup I think I’ve ever read!

Why?? Why would you take two sweet, loving, intelligent people and just decide that they are going to break up over something so incredibly stupid? Without talking about it? How many breakups involve having like. Zero conversation? She practically ghosts him because she assumed something that *she doesn’t even necessarily believe he did*, but the *possibility* that he did the thing was enough for her to literally just bail on him.

So frustrating I skimmed the last sixty pages because I was too close to the end to DNF. Very annoying. I’m curious to read the others in the series because I like the characters but I’ll be scouring reviews to see if this same kind of thing is likely to happen.

I really liked this first book in KC’s Luck series. Kit has found her family, in friendships and a community in a small town. Ben is back to help his dad recover from an injury and recruit Kit as a scientist for his company. These two were ready for each other even if they didn’t know it. I’m ready for the next one!
