A Dead-End Job was such a fun read - fast-paced, irreverent, but still had heart. At times, things progressed too quickly, and I wish that I had more time to learn about the paranormal world of Chicago. Acala created colorful and sometimes familiar characters, and I look forward to seeing the next one.

You may be thinking this book is about death it is not it is about the an intern that's just trying not to go to hell. This book reminds me a lot of Jim butchers dressed and files but with a character that is giving death a vacation. One staff officially goes on vacation that's when the real story begins. It does slowly build at first but by the end you're rooting for the characters. You see vampires on werewolves and undead and lots of other mythical elements. Great work

This story is about Buck, a down and out and his new job as an intern to the literal Angel of Death. Yes that is a thing you can be. The only thing that I dislike about this story is the occasional grammatical errors. I loved the fact that one of the main characters is John Dillinger moonlighting as a union delegate. This was a really funny story. I loved Buck's views on his life and the things that he does. I would definitely recommend it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a rarely original book. If you ever want to read something different than the usual mystery stuff, then this is the book to pick.

Death hires an intern to do his job while he goes on a vacation. Oh yes, the intern is a hitman. The story starts out with jam packed humour and after the first few chapters it gets dead serious too. Along with the seriousness the author has embedded humour in serious circumstances effortlessly. The unexpected journey the hitman undergoes is the main twist in the tale.

The number of characters in the book is perfect and the read is smooth and quick. Overall, it's an enjoyable book that must be read!
