While I very much enjoyed the art work the story was less to be desired. It started out rather fun but made an awful turn for the worse. Very unfortunate. Had such potential.

Wonderful and much more adult than I was expecting. Love it.

I read about this book and told my mom about it. I had read that it was out of print, but I got it for Christmas the next year and was really excited. It's really fun and beautiful.

I had this book as a child, always knew the images and the premise but I cant recall if I quite read it. Going back and reading it, i’m shocked at the adult themes! It was a book so dear to my heart, I just wish the fairies weren’t sexualized.

What a delightfully bizarre book! Terry Jones (yes, that T. Jones) and Brian Froud team up to create a weirdly disturbing, compelling and funny book.

As others have said, the format is like an Edwardian nature journal. With pressed (squished) specimens and descriptions on each page.

It reminds me a lot of the 'Gnomes' books of the 70's/80's but with a Python-esque twist.

I love the look of anything Froud has ever done! This was such a treat. Not only did you get to look at his unique art, but you got that cool story along with it! The squashed ones were the best!!!

This book is absolutely adorable. The artist's work is some of my favorites. It's a fun little sarcastic book.

I was tempted to put this under children's literature, but by the time you hit the end of the book, there was hardly anything childlike about the story or the fairies! Go figure.

Was interesting and amusing to read. It was also great to see subtle slice of aristo life during the time period (mostly a mention of the Arabian nights illustrations...that got me distracted looking for the book for at least an hour!)

But yes. These fairies are not exactly wholesome in any sense of the word. Silly little pranksters.
