A rich collection of stories blending dark eroticism and devastating emotional power. The longer stories in this collection are certainly stronger, packing just as much narrative breadth and emotional depth as a novel. Favourite stories: Georgica, Remedy, Rockets Round the Moon.

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to write a review that will capture my love of these stories, for most tend to highlight our ugliest sides as humans, and their familiarity or relatability was equally disturbing and enthralling for me. Ofter blurring the line between real and fantastic, Homes depicts our simple human lives as more than simple, revealing our urges for love and acceptance. Many have a character facing memory loss; it makes me wonder if there is symbolism there for losing our selves or our sense of humanness.
Definitely recommended, but not for the faint of heart!

Few writers succeed to portray broken people as captivating as A. M. Homes. Her way of mixing suburban lives with the extraordinary is gorgeous, while her storytelling is dark and each story requires a shift of perspective.
