Mujirushi is an interesting manga, it tells a short tale of art theft, con men and a kind of romance story?

Apparently this Manga is part of some kind of series the Louvre did, but any information I can find about this is all in French so I don't know much about that. This is the only book I have found in the series however/the only one I have read. I don't think you need to read them in order, but if you do then that's on me.

This manga feels compressed. It's trying to tell a few different stories at once it feels like but without the length to really flesh out each plot point. It has some very good bits to it, but again I wish they where just longer. A lot of important details or even just details to flesh out characters, are mentioned in passing with one ot 2 words, often near the end meaning everyone feels mostly 2d, like everything has only been there for the story, not before as well.

One main point however was the fact it seemed to have a very strong trump theme in it. It was a fun laugh at first, but then it constantly kept cropping up over and over again until it almost felt like it was the main story over the main story.

It is a good tale, I did enjoy reading it and the art is very well drawn, I also enjoyed the splashes of colour peppered throughout. I wouldn't really think too much while reading it however, it's more of just a wind-down kinda manga when you want something fun to read while tired/etc.

"Hanya Mimpi Yang Diharapkan Yang Akan Terwujud"

This manga is wild. It hops around and the entire time I was just like what....is happening here? Kasumi's dad is a dumbass. He makes a lot of mistakes and I don't even feel like he gets redeemed or anything. His luck just turns around in the end?

The Trump jokes were funny.

I found out this work is part of a series of comics that were commissioned for the Louvre which is wild that this is a thing, but i guess it works? The story is just real strange to me.

I don't even feel like this has any plot, so it's kind of hard to review this. It had a couple of funny gags. The art is good. If you don't care about plot but love those things then you'll like it.

What did I just read? This was one of the strangest stories I've read, especially in manga format. The story begins on a family in crippling debt to the point that the wife leaves her husband and daughter behind. The father and daughter stumble upon a strange building called The French Research Institution and encounter one of the strangest characters I've seen in media. They become embroiled in an investigation of art thieves and ultimately find themselves in Paris. The ending was very mysterious and I'm feeling unsure about the intended message of the author.

There was a good deal of bashing of President Trump, which never feels appropriate to me. However, I did enjoy seeing art featured so prevalently in this manga and very much appreciated the inclusion of my favorite artist, Vermeer. If this story had been told in a standard book/movie format and without the clear bashing of President Trump, I would have enjoyed it so much more.

I received a PDF of this title from Netgalley for review; all opinions are my own.

This is quite a strange, unusual and imaginative manga. Some parts were confusing at first but I loved how everything tied in together.

Interesting that this is part of a Louvre collection. I would love to read the other books in the series!
